Pros
- The Engine: The Briggs and Stratton Silver series is not a standard 140cc engine. Aside from being made in the USA to exacting standards, the B&S can deliver 5 pounds of torque per foot. So if you are worried because this mower is on the lower end of the cc scale-don’t be. Unless you have exceptionally unruly lawn this mower will get the job done without a hitch.
- Full Feature Set: Mowers at this price point sometimes skimp out on important features (especially Yard machines), but this Craftsman unit still includes mulching/side discharge/bagging, adjustable height, large rear wheels, and even throws in some advanced bagger technology. The rear bag has a dust filter, so people who are allergic to dust or pollens don’t accidentally ingest some. The wonders of this bag do not end there (it’s like Mary Poppins’ carpet bag) it also was made to be easily detachable, and is made to fill up completely before needing to be emptied.
Cons
- Problems after a few years: I would recommend purchasing a warranty, because after around 2 years some users have reported having trouble with their mower. Longevity of a mower is a hard thing to test, so it is better to err on the safe side.
Q&A
Final Thoughts
The Craftsman 37430 has everything you need in a push mower. It is made with a fantastic engine and includes all the features that you need. Yes it may lack some desirable features like padded handles or caster wheels, but in this case these absences are not crippling. This is a mower we can recommend with relative confidence.
